Absentee Voting Schedule
2016 Presidential Election

Voting in Person - note, locations are tentative, pending approval of the Election Board

 

Wednesday, October 12, 2016:
First day that a voter may vote an absentee ballot before an absentee voter board in the office of the circuit court clerk. (I.C. 3-11-10-26)
Absentee voting in the office of the circuit court clerk will take place in Goshen at the County Office Building, 117 N. 2nd Street in Goshen.  Absentee voting is also available at a satellite absentee voting location which is the Lincoln Center at 608 Oakland Avenue, in Elkhart.  Two additional satellite locations are available on Saturday, October 29 and Saturday November 5, and are listed below. 

Saturday, October 29, 2016:

The office of the circuit court clerk must be open for at least 7 hours for in-person absentee voting.   (I.C. 3-11-10-26)

Elkhart - Lincoln Center, 608 Oakland Avenue;
Goshen - County Administration Building, 117 N. 2nd St., Room 108;
Nappanee - First Brethren Church, 1600 N. Main St.;
Middlebury - Middlebury Town Hall, 418 N. Main St.
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (all 4 locations) 

Saturday, November 5, 2016:

The office of the circuit court clerk must be open for at least 7 hours for in-person absentee voting.   (I.C. 3-11-10-26)

Monday, November 7, 2016:

Deadline, by noon, for a voter to vote an absentee ballot in the office of the circuit court clerk. (I.C. 3-11-10-26)
NOTE:  Absentee voting in Middlebury and Nappanee ONLY takes place on Saturday October 29 and Saturday November 5. 

Voting by Mail

Tuesday, May 17, 2016:

First day the circuit court clerk may receive an absentee ballot application from a voter for the presidential election, (other than an absent uniformed services voter or an overseas voter.)  

Monday, October 31, 2016:

Deadline, by midnight, for a circuit court clerk to receive a mailed, e-mailed or facsimile transmitted absentee ballot application from a voter who requests to vote by mail for the presidential election. (I.C. 3-11-4-3(a)(4))  Absentee ballot applications submitted by e-mail must be submitted to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  Absentee ballot applications submitted by fax must be faxed to (574) 535-6471, and absentee ballot applications submitted by mail are to be mailed to: Elkhart County Election Board, 101 N. Main, Room 204, Goshen, IN 46526.  Applications can also be submitted in person, during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Mondays, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, excluding County holidays. 

Voting by Traveling Board

Tuesday, May 17, 2016:

First day the circuit court clerk may receive an absentee ballot application from a voter for the presidential election (other than an absent uniformed services voter or an overseas voter.)  

Thursday, October 20, 2016:

First day that a voter requesting an absentee traveling board to visit the voter at the voter’s location because of illness or injury of the voter, or because the voter is caring for a confined person at a private residence, may vote before the traveling absentee board for the presidential election.

Monday, November 7, 2016:

Deadline, by noon, for the circuit court clerk to receive a mailed, e-mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered absentee ballot application from a voter requesting an absentee traveling board to visit the voter at the voter’s location because of illness or injury of the voter, or because the voter is caring for a confined person at a private residence. Voter Registration Deadline

Monday, October 11, 2016:

Deadline, at close of business, for an individual to apply for voter registration or for a voter to transfer the voter’s registration at the county voter registration office to be registered for the Presidential Election. (I.C. 3-7-13-10; 3-7-13-11)
