Absentee voting in person for the 2016 PrimaryElection will BEGIN at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Elkhart and Goshen absentee voting locations.
Absentee voting in person for the 2016 Presidential Election will END at 12:00 noon, Monday, May 7, 2018, at Elkhart and Goshen absentee voting locations.
Voters will need to show a photo ID that meets all of the following criteria:
1. Displays the voter's photo,
2. Displays the voter's name,
3. Displays an expiration date, and must either be current, or have expired after November 8, 2016, AND
4. Be issued by the State of Indiana, or the Federal Government.*
*In most cases, an Indiana driver's license, Indiana photo ID card, Military ID or U.S. Passport is sufficient. A student ID from an Indiana State school may only be used if it meets all of the 4 criteria specified above. A student ID from a private institution may not be used for voting purposes.
NOTE: An ID issued by the US Department of Defense, a branch of the uniformed services, the Merchant Marine, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (or Veterans Administration), or the Indiana National Guard is not required to have an expiration date, or may state that the document has an "Indefinite" expiration date.
LOCATIONS - the locations below are tentative, pending approval of the Election Board as well as the Lincoln Center. Check back for updates.
Goshen at the County Administration Building, 117 N. Second St., Room 108, Goshen (1st floor)
Elkhart at the Lincoln Center, 608 Oakland Ave., Elkhart (now on the 1st floor)
Middlebury at the Town Hall, 418 N. Main St. (Saturday, April 30 and Saturday May 5, ONLY)
Nappanee at the First Brethren Church, 1600 N. Main St. (Saturday, April 30 and Saturday May 5, ONLY)
SCHEDULE - the below schedule was approved by the Election Board at a public meeting held on 2/22/18.
Mondays (except May 7): 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)
Tuesday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)
Saturday, April 30: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (all 4 locations)
Saturday, May 5: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (all 4 locations)
Monday, May 7, 8:00 a.m. – noon (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)
The absentee voter boards ARE open through the lunch hour.
The Elkhart County Election Board unanimously voted to NOT offer evening hours for absentee voting for the 2018 primary election. We will monitor the situation and and if necessary will adjust the schedule.
