Absentee Voting Facts and Deadlines

  • Absentee ballot applications to vote by mail or traveling board for the 2020 Primary Election must be submitted to the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.  There are several ways to submit them, as outlined below. 
  • Applications to vote absentee by mail must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2020. The post-mark date does not apply.  Click here to obtain an absentee ballot by mail application  (En EspaƱol)
  • Applications to vote absentee by travel board must be received by noon on Monday, November 2, 2020.  The post-mark date does not apply.  Click here to obtain an absentee ballot by travel board application
    Note: Travel board is for those who are confined or disabled and are in need of assistance marking their ballot, or for someone who is caring for such a person. 
  • Applications may be hand-delivered, mailed, or faxed and will not be accepted at any other location.  Applications can now also be submitted by e-mail, see details regarding all methods of submitting an application, below.

Absentee Voting in Person Information

Absentee voting in person for the 2020 Primary Election will begin,TBD

Absentee voting in person for the 2020 Primary Election will end, TBD

Voters will need to show a photo ID that meets ALL of the following criteria:

1.Displays the voter's photo,
2.Displays the voter's name,
3.Displays an expiration date, and must either be current, or have expired after November 6, 2018, AND
4.Must be issued by the State of Indiana, or the Federal Government*

     *In most cases, an Indiana driver's license, Indiana photo ID card, Military ID or US Passport is sufficient. A student ID from an Indiana State school may only be used if it meets all of the 4 criteria specified above. A student ID from a private         institution may not be used for voting purposes. 
NOTE: An ID issued by the US Department of Defense, a branch of the uniformed services, the Merchant Marine, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (or Veterans Administration), or the Indiana National Guard is not required to have an expiration date, or may state that the document has an "Indefinite" expiration date.
