Absentee Voting Facts and Deadlines

  • Absentee ballot applications to vote by mail or traveling board for the 2015 Municipal Election must be submitted to the Circuit Court Clerk's Office, 101 N. Main St., Rm. 204, Goshen, IN 46526.
  • Applications to vote absentee by mail must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015. The post-mark date does not apply.  Click here to obtain an absentee ballot by mail application
  • Applications to vote absentee by travel board must be received by noon on Monday, November 2, 2015.  The post-mark date does not apply.  Click here to obtain an absentee ballot by travel board application
  • Applications may be hand-delivered, mailed, or faxed and will not be accepted at any other location.  Applications can now also be submitted by e-mail, see e-mail address below.

Absentee Voting in Person Information

Absentee voting in person for the 2015 Municipal Election will begin at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Absentee voting in person for the 2015 Municipal Election will end at 12:00 noon, Monday, November 2, 2015.

Voters will need to show a photo ID that meets ALL of the following criteria:

1.Displays the voter's photo,
2.Displays the voter's name,
3.Displays an expiration date, and must either be current, or have expired after November 4, 2014, AND
4.Be issued by the State of Indiana, or the Federal Government*

     *In most cases, an Indiana driver's license, Indiana photo ID card, Military ID or US Passport is sufficient. A student ID              from an Indiana State school may only be used if it meets all of the 4 criteria specified above. A student ID from a private          institution may not be used for voting purposes.

Mondays (except November 2) - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)
Tuesday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)
Saturday, October 24 - 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  (ALL 4 LOCATIONS)
Saturday, October 31 - 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)
Monday (November 2) - 8:00 a.m. to NOON - noon is the deadline to vote absentee in-person. (Elkhart and Goshen ONLY)

Important Information

The municipal election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 will be for eligible residents of the Cities of Elkhart and Goshen.

Nappanee, Middlebury, Millersburg, Bristol and Wakarusa residents will not be eligible to vote in the election on November 3, 2015, as there are no contested races, and the election board has resolved to save taxpayer dollars by not conducting elections for these uncontested races.

Eligible residents of Elkhart and Goshen can vote at any of the 27 Vote Center locations, and will still also have the option of voting absentee. See the "Absentee Info" section under "Voter Info" for absentee voting details.
